If you want to get some serious winter training in with like minded riders, then this is the perfect trip for you. This week is aimed at regular club riders and is ridden at about 23kmph average speed. You can ride all 7 days or pick and choose the days you want to join. Each ride is run every day in the winter, but if you happen to be going to Lanzarote in the summer, rides can be arranged. If you want to join a similar road riding week but at a faster pace, please see our Advanced Week or make an enquiry.
DAY 1Femes (Monday)

Your first taste of Lanzarote will be the village of Puerto Calero, followed by the 10km climb of La Asomanda. Next you cycle through Conil and Playa Blanca to the Wine Valley of Uga. The most challenging ride will be the 4km climb to Fems. During lunch you will look over Playa Blanca and have views of another Canary Island - Fuerteventura. There will be many wineries passed on the way back to Puerto del Carmen.

Today's cycling is approximately 60km at 22-25km/h with an altitude of 1025m.

DAY 2Mirador Del Rio (Tuesday)

Today you will cycle up to Tias and Montana Blanca reaching Monumento al Campesino and then upwards to the village of Los Valles. The journey back will be leisurely - through the Valley of a Thousand Palm Trees and Haria, a historic village which lies within. The ride to El Mirador del Rio involves a combination of upward and downward descents, but they will be worth it when you see the view of La Graciosa Island and its surroundings. From here, the decent to Arrieta is downhill!
Today's cycling is approximately 103km, at 22-25km/h with an altitude of 1630m.

DAY 3Fire Mountains (Wednesday)

Cycle towards Puerto Calero, then onto Uga, to reach Montanas del Fuego (The Fire Mountains). The 5km climb may be challenging, but upon reaching the summit you will be rewarded with a view of camel safaris. The next ride from Tinajo is downhill to La Santa, a fishing village. It is then time to go uphill to Soo and Tiaga, before heading back to Puerto del Carmen, cycling through Tinguaton and Coni on the way.

Today's cycling is approximately 65km at 22-25km/h, with an altitude of 950m.

DAY 4Puerto del Carmen (Thursday)

Thursday is rest day! You have the option of relaxing around the hotel and exploring the surrounding areas, or getting on your bike and completing a self guided route! Your guides will be full of ideas and inspiration.

DAY 5El Golfo/Wine Valley (Friday)

After a hilly start, today's cycle towards the island centre is predominantly flat. It will take you through volcanic landscapes such as Las Montanas del Fuego (The Fire Mountains). You will then move onto one of the most popular cycle roads, down the coast of El Golfo riding through Yaiza and Puerto Calera. The final cycle is largely downhill with a beneficial tailwind.

Today's cycling is approximately 73km at 22-25km/h, at 838m altitude.

DAY 6Famara/La Santa (Saturday)

Following the "donkey road" to Tias you will see the western part of Lanzarote. The journey to Famara will be along flatland, but the downside is the wind blowing against you. Ensure this doesn't let you forget to take in the views of Famara cliffs! There will be an opportunity to take a break and explore La Santa, a fishing village. Use this break to relax as next you will climb 7km to Tinajo, then cross volcanic landscapes back to Puerto del Carmen.

Today's cycling is approximately 71km at 22-25km/h with an altitude of 922m.

DAY 7Tabeyesco (Sunday)

An essential for cycling in Lanzaronte is the 10km climb in the Tabayesco Valley. The route starts at Puerto del Carmen, then heads through Tias, Masdache and Teguise, which used to be the the capital. From Teguise the route rapidly descents until Tabayesco Valley, where you will roam through coastal villages, aloe vera fields and gardens filled with cacti. Once the summit has been reached, lunch will be held at Los Helechos Restaurant. The final 40km is an effortless decent from 600m to sea level.

Today's cycling is approximately 88km at 1,300m altitude.

DAY 8Departure

Today we will take you back to the airport for your return flight home.

Lanzarote offers almost pristine tarmac. The roads are in great condition with very little traffic and the island is much flatter than its neighbours, Tenerife and Gran Canaria. There are still climbs but you can also enjoy long and spectacular undulating roads.

As Lanzarote doesn't have any tall mountains, there are very few clouds that hover over the island. It has the most consistent temperature of all of the Canary islands making it perfect for winter sun. You've probably heard about the wind and Lanzarote can be extremely windy, certainly in the middle of summer. It is however less windy in the winter meaning any wind that does blow brings a welcome cool breeze to your cycling
