Port Pollensa is a cyclist's playground. With iconic rides on your doorstep and some of the most perfect cycling roads in Europe, Port Pollensa is the place to stay in Mallorca. We love the rides to Cap Formentor, Sa Calobra, Soller and Lluc. Most of all, we love 300 days of sunshine a year on an island that is just a couple of hours from the UK.
DAY 1Arrival into Palma
On your arrival into Palma, we will pick you up and take you to Port Pollensa in the north of the island. We have a variety of accommodation for you in the port. Choose from apartments, villas, 3, 4 or 5* hotels. Remember your entire trip can be tailor made. Choose from different hotels, different models of bike and holiday dates and times to suit you.
DAY 2Cap Formentor Lighthouse Ride
Today we recommend the iconic ride out to Cap Formentor lighthouse, at the end of the island. Probably the most stunning 40km ride in Europe, you will traverse the winding road as it snakes through limestone jagged rocks. The rollercoaster takes you through quiet forest and out on to exposed sections of road with the cliffs plunging into the sea below. Enjoy a coffee at the lighthouse before making your way back and enjoying the rest of your day on or off the bike.
DAY 3Sa Calobra
Mallorca often feels like a cyclist's theme park and today, you can enjoy the legendary Sa Calobra. At 9.5km and averaging 7%, this is where British Cycling and Team Sky have honed their skills. The views from the road are breathtaking. Combine Sa Calobra with a ride to the caves of Campanet, the monastery in Lluc, or the climbs out over Soller. We have GPX files of all of these routes for you to follow.
DAY 4Alcudia Bay & Departure (or extend your trip)
If you fancy a day out of the mountains, we recommend riding to Alcudia bay and out to the north east coast. The ride is quite flat and you will have the sea on your left hand side as you ride all the way from Pollensa to Alcudia. Grab a coffee in Alcudia before exploring Mallorca's remote north east coast. Make your way out to the lookout at Cala Mesquida and then back through Arta and Sineu.
Today we will take you back to Palma airport but remember, our trips are entirely tailor made and bespoke so this itinerary can be altered in any way you want.
The north of Mallorca is one of the most popular European cycling destinations. Stay in Puerto Pollensa or Alcudia to enjoy access to climbs, flatlands, or coastal rides. Overlook the sparkling Mediterranean or head west to test yourself in the revered Tramuntana mountain range.
The weather in Mallorca makes it one of the most sought after destinations by bicycle. Mallorca has a relatively cool but sunny Spring and Autumn so if you’re planning on travelling between March and May and September to November, you will see a lot of bikes. You can also cycle in the summer and we would recommend beautiful early morning rides or later afternoon rides and to avoid the midday sun.
The holiday is a self guided holiday allowing you to explore Mallorca at your own pace. We know the area very well and have put together some recommended routes in GPX format which allows you to download these to most GPS enabled devices, and with certain software, to your smartphone. These will be sent to you once you have booked your holiday with Love Velo and each file will be titled with a short description of the ride and the distance. If you would like to see the profile of each route, we recommend that you download the files before your holiday and open them with a GPS viewer. If you would like guiding instead, please just ask our cycle experience team.
You will want to know that your bike is in great condition and that you won’t have any mechanical problems during your ride. Our bikes are extremely well serviced and maintained but in the very unlikely event there is a mechanical issue with the bike (not including basic maintenance such as slipped chains or punctures), we will provide you with an emergency number for someone to come out and repair or replace your bike.
We have the best road bikes available for hire for your holiday. Simply advise your preferred options and components and we can match the right bike for you. Our essential bike in Mallorca is a full carbon road bike with Ultegra groupset but we can upgrade or provide hybrid, mountain and e-bikes. If you would like, you can upgrade your bicycle to a full carbon with Dura Ace or DI2 electric gearing, or to our top specification bicycle in Mallorca - a full carbon road bike with DI2s, upgraded wheels and ultra stiff frame.
We consider travel insurance to be essential. Accordingly, it is a condition of making a booking through us that you have suitable insurance cover for the booking you have made and any activities which you expect to take part in. This insurance as a minimum should cover cancellation, baggage loss, accidents and health issues while you are away. We also recommend that you take your policy details with you when you travel. Please ask our cycling experience team if you would like us to arrange travel insurance for you.
