Situated on the golden sands of the Adriatic are the beach towns of Rimini, Cesenatico and Riccione. Each offers dedicated cycling hotels from which to explore the beautiful Emilia Romagna region. From sandy shores to crisp green Italian hills, this trip offers some of the most beautiful cycling the country has to offer.
DAY 1Holiday Itinerary
Arrive in Rimini or Bologna airport and we will be waiting to take you to the hotel. Check in and relax or explore the beautiful beaches of Riccioni. You can pick up your bicycle the day you arrive.
This is a self guided holiday so you have the freedom to discover this wonderful region at your own pace. Whether you're wanting to explore vineyards or medieval castles, the coast to rolling hills, we have a number of routes, covering all abilities, distances and locations. Available in GPX and PDF for you to follow and these will be sent to you before you depart.
After what we hope will be a fabulous time in Riccione, we will take you back to the airport for your return flight home.
Roman relics, sandy beaches and easy access to the Emilia Romagna hills mean the Adriatic coast from Rimini down to Riccione is perfect to base yourself for a cycling holiday. You can ride the climbs of the Nove Colli, or 'Nine Hills' or explore the flatter countryside. Easy access from Blogna or Rimini airports and a plethora of bike hotels makes this area a great place to ride at inexpensive prices.
The weather in the Adriatic coast is similar to many Italian beach resorts. The high season of July and August is probably best avoided but the cool breezes and quieter beaches and roads of Spring and Autumn makes this a perfect time to ride.
The holiday is a self guided holiday allowing you to explore Puglia at your own pace. We know the area very well and have put together some recommended routes in GPX format which allows you to download these to most GPS enabled devices, and with certain software, to your smartphone. These will be sent to you once you have booked your holiday with Love Velo and each file will be titled with a short description of the ride and the distance. If you would like to see the profile of each route, we recommend that you download the files before your holiday and open them with a GPS viewer. If you would like guiding instead, please just ask our cycle experience team.
You will want to know that your bike is in great condition and that you won’t have any mechanical problems during your ride. Our bikes are extremely well serviced and maintained but in the very unlikely event there is a mechanical issue with the bike (not including basic maintenance such as slipped chains or punctures), we will provide you with an emergency number for someone to come out and repair or replace your bike.
We consider travel insurance to be essential. Accordingly, it is a condition of making a booking through us that you have suitable insurance cover for the booking you have made and any activities which you expect to take part in. This insurance as a minimum should cover cancellation, baggage loss, accidents and health issues while you are away. We also recommend that you take your policy details with you when you travel. Please ask our cycling experience team if you would like us to arrange travel insurance for you.
