Quinta da Lago is a beautiful and exclusive picturesque resort. It offers everything a family or new rider could want with quiet resort roads leading directly out to the tracks of the beautiful Ria Formosa National Park. Explore the tracks, completely free from cars, and watch mussel pickers pick fresh seafood before the tide comes in. If you feel like a day away from the bike, the brand new state of the art 'Campus' has full size tennis courts, padel tennis courts and football pitch. If you're travelling with the kids, let them enjoy the kids clubs whilst you chill out on the sprawling veranda with a cocktail or coffee.
DAY 1Arrival

Upon arrival in Faro, Love Velo will be waiting to take you to the Quinta do Lago resort. Check in, relax and discover the beautiful resort.

DAY 2Ria Formosa National Park

We will take you to the Campus where you can pick up your bike and enjoy a coffee on the veranda before a day of pedalling through the national park.

The Ria Formosa is a series of lagoons created by the tide and is home to an abundance of bird life, flora and fauna. There is a network of trails and bridges connecting each of the inlets so you can ride in peace and tranquillity. We have routes in hard copy and electronic format.

DAY 3Praia de Faro

Today is a day to enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Algarve. Ride from the resort out through the lagoon and spend the day riding along the Praia de Faro. Enjoy lunch in one of the many cafes and restaurants on the beach before riding back to the resort. Have a stop at the Beach Shack on the way home and take a canoe out on to the lake or just relax on the white sands before heading back to the Campus in the resort for a coffee as the sun goes down.

DAY 4The Shack

Today we recommend a day off the bike and to explore this exclusive resort. Head down to the Campus for a croissant and coffee before a lesson in padel tennis on one of the newly built courts. You can ride around the resort or head down to the Shack that overlooks the lake. It's a real suntrap so enjoy some of the watersports on the lake or just relax on the beach.

DAY 5Vilamoura

Today we recommend riding down to Vilamoura and exploring the western beaches of the Algarve. You can cycle almost exclusively on the promenade if you prefer to be away from the roads.

DAY 6Departure

Enjoy breakfast before we transfer you back to the airport.

Quinta do Lago is situated on the shores of the Algarve, set within the stunning Ria Formosa National Park. The resort offers an abundance of restaurants, from award winning steakhouses to fresh seafood restaurants and relaxed beach shacks. The resort is perfect for kids and new riders as they can stay with the resort's roads and trails of the national park. For seasoned riders, you can ride straight from the resort into the hills and through the Algarve's vineyards. This is the perfect place to stay for every type of cyclist.

There is never a bad time to visit the Algarve as it offers year round sunshine. The autumn months of September and October are a great time to visit but whether you’re looking for some temperate winter sunshine a warm Spring or Autumn cycle or a hot summer, the Algarve rarely lets you down.

Your stay is in the luxury resort of Quinta do Lago. We can organise a 4* hotel or change this for a cottage if you prefer. Just let us know your preference when you make your enquiry.
You will be met and collected at Faro airport before being whisked away to Quinta do Lago. On you final day, you will be taken back to the airport.
Your trip will be bed and breakfast unless you choose to upgrade.
The holiday is a self guided holiday allowing you to explore the Algarve and Ria Formosa National Park at your own pace. We know the area very well and have put together some recommended routes in hard copy and GPX format which allows you to download these to most GPS enabled devices, and with certain software, to your smartphone. These will be sent to you once you have booked your holiday with Love Velo and each file will be titled with a short description of the ride and the distance. If you would like to see the profile of each route, we recommend that you download the files before your holiday and open them with a GPS viewer. If you would like guiding instead, please just ask our cycle experience team.
If you choose not to have a guide, you will want to know that your bike is in great condition and that you won’t have any mechanical problems during your ride. Our bikes are extremely well serviced and maintained but in the very unlikely event there is a mechanical issue with the bike (not including basic maintenance such as slipped chains or punctures), we will provide you with an emergency number for someone to come out and repair or replace your bike.
The bike we will provide for you to explore the Algarve is a Trek X Caliber 9. It is equipped with V brakes, front suspension and comfortable saddle. We also have road bikes and kids bikes if you need.
Your bike will come equipped with essential tools for you to repair a puncture, replace an inner tube or fix a slipped chain.
Travel to Portugal is not included but please ask our cycling experience team if you would like us to book flights for you.
We consider travel insurance to be essential. Accordingly, it is a condition of making a booking through us that you have suitable insurance cover for the booking you have made and any activities which you expect to take part in. This insurance as a minimum should cover cancellation, baggage loss, accidents and health issues while you are away. We also recommend that you take your policy details with you when you travel. Please ask our cycling experience team if you would like us to arrange travel insurance for you.
