DAY 2Pastel del Nata

For the Portuguese speakers, yes the title of this ride is a pastry! The ride is 105km and there is a stop en route where you can enjoy the best Pastel de Nata in the Algarve, fact! Your ride takes you into the hills via Son Bras and Salil before you arrive into Alte. Stop at Germano Bicicarte cafe where Pedro can serve you some of the best pastries and cakes in the Algarve, and you can marvel at the bikes and the art. What's not to love? The ride is approximately 105km with 1,500m of climbing.

DAY 3Son Bras

If you want to get some good mileage under your belt with a decent amoutn of climbing, we reccomend the route out to Sao bras and then into the hills. Your riding will be on pristine tarmac and you will hear the zip of your wheels as you loop back around to Santa Catarina. Head back to Estoi and then back to the resort. This ride is 120km with 1,700m of climbing but feel free to extend or decerease this ride depending on how you're feeling.

A great, relatively easy ride  of 75km taking in 1,000m of climbing. You will ride via Estoi, Querenca and Loule, passing through countless vineyards and orange groves. If you get a chance to sample some of the oranges and satsumas, you won't be disappointed.

This 70K ride will deliver you to the Vineyards of Joao Clara for some wine tasting and a meal if you fancy ending your day on a high. The evening will end with a transfer back to Quinta do Lago.

Quinta do Lago is situated on the shores of the Algarve, set within the stunning Ria Formosa National Park. The resort offers an abundance of restaurants, from award winning steakhouses to fresh seafood restaurants and relaxed beach shacks. The resort is perfect for kids and new riders as they can stay with the resort's roads and trails of the national park. For seasoned riders, you can ride straight from the resort into the hills and through the Algarve's vineyards. This is the perfect place to stay for every type of cyclist.

There is never a bad time to visit the Algarve as it offers year round sunshine. The autumn months of September and October are a great time to visit but whether you’re looking for some temperate winter sunshine a warm Spring or Autumn cycle or a hot summer, the Algarve rarely lets you down.

Your stay is in the luxury resort of Quinta do Lago. We can organise a 4* hotel or change this for a cottage if you prefer. Just let us know your preference when you make your enquiry.
You will be met and collected at Faro airport before being whisked away to Quinta do Lago. On you final day, you will be taken back to the airport.
Your trip will be bed and breakfast unless you choose to upgrade.
The holiday is a self guided holiday allowing you to explore the Algarve and the mountains that drop down to the sea. We know the area very well and have put together some recommended routes in hard copy and GPX format which allows you to download these to most GPS enabled devices, and with certain software, to your smartphone. These will be sent to you once you have booked your holiday with Love Velo and each file will be titled with a short description of the ride and the distance. If you would like to see the profile of each route, we recommend that you download the files before your holiday and open them with a GPS viewer. If you would like guiding instead, please just ask our cycle experience team.
If you choose not to have a guide, you will want to know that your bike is in great condition and that you won’t have any mechanical problems during your ride. Our bikes are extremely well serviced and maintained but in the very unlikely event there is a mechanical issue with the bike (not including basic maintenance such as slipped chains or punctures), we will provide you with an emergency number for someone to come out and repair or replace your bike.
The bike we will provide for you to explore the Algarve is a full carbon road bike with Shimano 105 or Ultegra groupset.
Your bike will come equipped with essential tools for you to repair a puncture, replace an inner tube or fix a slipped chain.
Travel to Portugal is not included but please ask our cycling experience team if you would like us to book flights for you.
We consider travel insurance to be essential. Accordingly, it is a condition of making a booking through us that you have suitable insurance cover for the booking you have made and any activities which you expect to take part in. This insurance as a minimum should cover cancellation, baggage loss, accidents and health issues while you are away. We also recommend that you take your policy details with you when you travel.
