The new year is almost upon us and to give you a bit of booking inspiration for January, we’ve prepared what we think will be hot for next year. Bon voyage.

With some of the most famous and popular cycling in Europe, it’s no wonder Mallorca continues to be the most popular country with Love Velo clients. From pristine beaches and turquoise seas well away from the tourist trail, to the beaten track climbs of Sa Calobra and Port Soller, there is simply something for everyone on the island. Whether you’re researching a ride with your local club, an activity holiday with your family, or even if you just want to sit on a beach and have the option of cycling for a couple of days, Mallorca has to be top of your list for 2018.

A visit to Pro Cycling Cafe in Puerto Pollensa is a must for any trip. Tell Bruce that we sent you and he’ll look after you. Grab a beer and make sure you have a slice of cake, handmade every day in the cafe. Pro Cycling also have ‘shop rides’ that you can join every Tuesday and Thursday. There’s nothing to pay, just enjoy the company of like minded riders. For a Port Pollensa experience, click here.

If you’re not overly confident on the roads or just want to ride in peace and quiet, check out the 25km of disused railway line, converted into a cycleway, up near Arta in the north of the island. We have a GPX file of the route that you an follow on a GPS device or even just from your smart phone. To ride this route, check out the holiday here.

The home of the most famous bike race in the world, home to some of the best climbing in the world, and home to some of the greatest cuisine in the world, France just begs to be explored. From iconic climbs such as Ventoux, Alpe D’Huez and the Galibier, to the French Riviera, France has everything you want for a quick break or a 2 week holiday.

Top Tip for Experienced Riders

If you’re an experienced rider looking for a great holiday destination with your family for 2018, look no further than the Cote D’Azur. Stay in the heart of Nice and you can get up for an early morning ride before heading home for croissants and coffee before some precious family holiday time. You can be on the Col d’Eze within 15 minutes of leaving your hotel and you can head out as far as the Col de la Madone or just ride through Monaco, Menton and over the Italian border. Check out an example itinerary here.

If you want to explore France away from the crowds, head to Provence early or late in the season. September is ideal as the temperatures cool from the intense August heat. Visit vineyards, olive groves and enjoy quaint towns such as Isle su la Sorgue, the Venice of Provence. You can find this holiday here.

Thailand is one of our fastest growing destinations for cycling. Our customers are wanting more experience holidays and Thailand provides experiences by the bucket load. Head to Bangkok and enjoy one of the most intense crazy cities in the world. Then get off the beaten track and explore authentic Asia. Whether you’re looking for a couple of days excursion or full cycling holiday, we can show you the best Thailand has to offer. Make sure you combine that with a trip to the islands for a bit of relaxation if you have time. There are worse ways to spend a few days than drinking a glass of Singha overlooking crystal blue waters!

If you have exhausted the European climbs or are simply looking for a totally different challenge to what you can experience in Europe, then check out one of our road biking trips. You can ride from capital to capital, across some of Asia’s most iconic countries. Our favourite is the epic ride from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. You will ride long distances through some of the most remote areas in this stunning country. Check out the holiday here.

Thailand is perfect for families or less confident riders. We recommend a couple of excursions to keep an active family entertained. You can start with a trip into Chiang Mai and explore elephant reserves before breaking up your trip back in Bangkok. If you fancy another jaunt into authentic Thailand, come and explore the Kanchanaburi hills for a couple of days. Our Chiang Mai trip is here and for any excursions not listed on our website, please ask our team.

Portugal is not just about the golf. It is home to some climbs to rival the well trodden Mallorca rides and has beach and national park rides for the best family holidays. The best thing about Portugal is that because it is so far south, the season stretches longer than the more northerly Spain, France and Italy. That means you can spend more time on the bike with more sun on your back. What’s not to love?

Top Tip for Experienced Riders

Monchique is a hidden gem. Just an hour or so from Faro airport, you can stay in an epic 5* resort complete with pools, spa, wellness rooms and superb cuisine. Home to Cube bike’s testing grounds and the Volta a Portugal, cycling simply doesn’t get any better than this.  Check out the holiday here.

Top Tip for Newcomers or Families

Our top tip for newcomers or families is to base yourself in the golfing resort of Quinta da Lago. The resort has everything you could need if you have young children, or if you simply want to enjoy a holiday with cycling added on, rather than a typical cycling holiday. Ride through flat lagoons, enjoy beach rides and lose yourself in the Ria Formosa Park. For the perfect break, check out this holiday.

Consistently our most booked winter sunshine escape, it’s not hard to see why people love Tenerife. It’s known as the ‘island of eternal Spring’. Temperatures do not get too oppressive and cool breezes blow off the Atlantic without becoming winds like it’s neighbour, Lanzarote. The best thing about Tenerife is its pricing. Flights are regular and cheap and such is our influence on the island, that we can organise pretty much any hotel at competitive rates.

Top Tip for Experienced Riders

Join one of our training weeks. They are a great way to meet other riders if you’re travelling solo and to enjoy the camaraderie of like minded riders. The best thing though is that on these training weeks, you will get a mix of serious training tips from Ironman athletes as well as knowledge of the roads less travelled. Accompany that with home made paella at the house of one of your guides and you have a truly inspiring and authentic Canary experience. You can find this trip here.

Top Tip for Newcomers or Families

We bet you’re thinking, Tenerife offers great weather but there’s too much climbing for a young family or non experienced riders. That is true, so we have opened up a new tour where you can explore the foothills around the volcano with a bit of extra battery power. Hire an e-bike and explore the same places as the experienced riders, just with a little less sweat on your brow.
