Summer Bank Holiday Cycling Inspiration

Written by Jonathan B on 25th August, 2018

The August Bank Holiday has finally arrived which means more time to cycle and more opportunities to explore! Whilst some members of the Love Velo team are off to cycle in Girona, others (me) will be looping Richmond Park until their legs are no longer responsive. That’s what bank holidays are for, right?

We’d love to hear where you’ll be cycling this weekend regardless of whether you’re in sunny Spain or staying put in London. Drop us a message on Twitter or Facebook and we’ll be sharing your images throughout the weekend!2 Cyclists in the Richmond Park The Bank Holiday, whilst a very welcomed event, brings a challenge. It’s during this time that we start to think ‘how much can I get done in three days off?’ How can you make the most of this valuable time? In response, we’ve outlined some of our favourite short cycling trips. You’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish with 3 full days available! So, when the next bank holiday comes around or you find yourself with a day of annual leave left over, get in contact with Love Velo and start planning your short stay cycling holiday.

Mont Ventoux

Imagine arriving to work on Tuesday and telling your colleagues that in 3 days you explored France, tasted the local cuisines, relaxed in a charming hotel and climbed one of the most famous mountains in the world. Not a bad story for a bank holiday! A flight from London will get you to Marseille in under two hours, leaving you with plenty of time to enjoy a stay in the local town of Bedoin. From just £395, this is the cycling holiday for you. Travel with friends or family or head off on your own and meet hundreds of other cyclists doing the same thing.Cyclists ride on the Mont Ventoux The Pyrenees

Also under two hours, cycling in the Pyrenees is another bucket list experience for any seasoned riders. Here, choose from a number of iconic climbs and relax in Argeles-Gazost, the quaint town at the bottom of the famous mountains. Enjoy 3 nights here from just £295 and return late on Monday with a true cyclists tan. Cyclists ride on the Pyrenees Ibiza

With a flight time of 2 hours and 25 minutes, you can spend your 3 days off on the sunny, beautiful island of Ibiza. With two fulls days of riding, you’ll find there will be plenty of time to explore the island. Ride the northern loop on one day and the southern loop the next whilst visiting the popular tourist spots as well as the hidden islands secrets. This trip is perfect for experienced riders, families and groups of friends due to the flexibility of the holiday.Group of cyclists ride along the coastline of Ibiza So there we are, three great cycling holidays that will make you the most exciting person in the office on Tuesday morning.
