Road Cycling Through Lanzarote
My Lanzarote Highlights
Timanfaya National Park is spectacular for cycling, if you love dramatic landscapes while you cycle - this is the one! Lunar landscapes lead to open roads and big skies, it's so unique.
The distinctive black vineyards of La Geria provide an alternative activity on rest days. Drink some delicious wine in volcanic vineyards.
Go cycling and finish off with a dip in the turquoise sea and beautiful beaches. Unwind after your ride with a cerveza by the sea.

This is a trip based in a single location

I like staying in the south of the island and Love Velo has the best hotels. Super comfy and friendly!

I come for road cycling and Love Velo has access to the best carbon road bikes on the island.

Love Velo can arrange airport transfers; quick and easy.

I like to have the options of exploring new rides, Love Velo provides GPS routes to download if I need them.

How I plan my trip
Day 1
30km total distance
After the flight I like to get to the hotel as soon as possible. A quick change and something to eat and I'm off on the bike. I always take it quite easy on the first day as tomorrow will be a more demanding ride. I'll find an easy loop and warm the legs up and acclimatise before heading back to the hotel for a rest and shower.
Day 2
81km total distance
The famous Tabayesco climb is an absolute beauty of a route. A tough 10km climb up to the summit through some amazing switchbacks towards the top. At the viewpoint cafe at the top there is coffee and cake which is the reason we all ride a bike right? Head back down the switchbacks and down to Haria, a little town, to refill or have another cafe stop before heading up another famous climb on the island. Mirador del Rio. This climb heads up in stages with a few short rest bits between each steep climb. The views up the final ascent and at the top are quite simply breathtaking.
Day 3
90km total distance
Another amazing route is over towards what I call 'Fire Mountain' actual name Timanfaya National Park. A stunning ride over to the western side of the island where you quite literally think you are riding on the moon! Breathtaking to say the least and one where you have to see it to believe it! After another incredible ride it's back to the hotel for a shower, I'll definitely sleep well!
Day 4
On the last day my legs are usually pretty tired. I like to take it easy with a few lengths in the hotel pool and some lunch before we head off and catch the transfer to the airport, see you later Lanzarote!
