WE LOVEBreathtaking Coastal Riding
As you cycle round Gran Canaria on quiet, traffic free roads, you will be treated to incredible views over the Atlantic Ocean, impressive mountain ranges and perfect riding conditions.
WE LOVEGreat weather all year round
The Canary Island provides riders with incredible weather for the majority of the year. There is a good breeze and the wind is less intense than its neighbour Lanzarote, making it an ideal place to ride.

What's Included

Your Intermediate Cycling week in Gran Canaria

We can tailor make this trip for you
Day 1Soria (Monday)

Your first ride of Gran Canaria will involve 26km of flat riding to Arguineguin and then onto Cercado de Espinos, allowing you to save your energy for the 5km climb to Soria. Once there, you will take a break at a local restaurant, where you can eat freshly baked cinnamon bread. You may see a waterfall from the restaurant, if the mountains have recently had rain. The journey back is the same route. Today is ridden at approximately 20-25km/h.

Total distance70kmTotal climb1170m
Day 2Santa Lucia - Fataga (Tuesday)

Today you will head east along the coast, passing an aerodrome before the climb to Santa Lucia. You’ll have views of Lomo de Gallego, a huge valley and Fortaleza. The next climb will take you to San Bartolome, where you will then start the descent to Fataga with a few “surprise” climbs.  Today is ridden at approximately 20-25km/h.

Total distance69kmTotal climb1320m
Day 3Summit Tour (Wednesday)

The iconic summit tour is a must for any cyclist visiting Gran Canaria. A 48km journey starting at 20m and finishing at 1950m. Journeying through Fataga, San Bartolome and Cruz Grande, then onto a (short) flat section it will be time to start the climb to Ayacata. This will be the final attraction before the top! The descent back to Playa del Ingles follows the same route. Today is ridden at approximately 20-25km/h.

Total distance96kmTotal climb2610m
Day 4Relaxation Day (Thursday)

Today is a day away from the bike to relax the muscles and soak up some sunshine.

Day 5Fataga - Santa Lucia (Friday)

A route which makes Gran Canaria great for cyclists! Composed of long and short climbs, the return is wholly declines, inter-spaced and winding, with a range of lengths allowing you to practice techniques and speed. The east coast tailwinds will play in your favour returning you to Playa del Ingles. Today is ridden at approximately 20-25km/h.

Total distance67kmTotal climb1330m
Day 6Tauropass (Saturday)

Today you will cycle along the coast to Puerto de Mogan, where the climb will begin. You will take a break in Mogan (249m) then go onto climb Tauropass (915m), with a break in Soria. We recommend trying the papaya juice and freshly baked cinnamon bread! The way back to Playa del Ingles is flat. Today is ridden at approximately 20-25km/h.

Total distance92kmTotal climb1770m
Day 7Puerto De Mogan (Sunday)

This road, from Playa del Ingles to Puerto de Mogan, along the south coast is full of hidden gems, such as the fishing hamlet at Mogan. You will have views of the Atlantic Ocean the entire journey. Once you arrive in Mogan there are multiple cafes situated by the harbour, perfect for relaxing before starting the return route. Today is ridden at approximately 20-25km/h.

Total distance67kmTotal climb930m
Day 3Departure

Today we will take you back to the airport for your return flight home.

What to ExpectFrom guaranteed sunshine to challenging cycling opportunities

Home to the Valley of the Tears, Gran Canaria is a great option for some warm weather cycling or training. Like Tenerife, there’s plenty of climbing and with slick and well maintained roads, you can truly test yourself on the bike. We recommend basing yourself in the south. Maspalomas is home to a huge number of hotels but for a quieter more luxurious stay, head a few km east to Meloneras.

Autumn is a great time to cycle in Gran Canaria. The summer heat has passed and the weather becomes perfect for cycling.
The WinterDecember to February
In the Winter the temperatures drop slightly and rain is more likely but cycling conditions can still be very good.
