Day by Day

Day 1Arrival

The best airport for you to arrive into is Girona airport From there, we will transfer you the 20 minute journey to Girona city centre to start your cycling holiday. All our trips are flexible and so if you prefer to arrive into Barcelona, please let us know. Barcelona is approximately an hour and a half from Girona.

Day 2Cycling from Olot to Sant Miquel de Pineda

After a short transfer to Olot, your adventure into the heart of Catalonia begins. Your first ride starts in Garrotxa where you will be cycling over ancient volcanoes and through farmland, known as La Fagenda. This unique combination of landscapes have formed an oak and beech tree forest which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It’s the perfect place for you enjoy a ride as you cycle through cool and quiet woodland.

Day 3Cycling loop out to Sant Miquel de Pineda

Staying in the La Garrotxa region, today’s ride leads you up into the mountains and the Rectoria. You’ll ride a small climb up to Vento, upon which you’ll come across a hidden hotel and restaurant in the mountains overlooking Olot. This is your lunch stop before you descend down the valley leading to the hidden paradise of Gorges Moli dels Murris. You will be greeted by the glistening waters of the lake, set within the quiet surroundings of the forest.

Day 4Cycling from Sant Miquel de Pineda to Girona

Today you will ride the Greenway path, a disused railway line offering you traffic free roads. The path stretches from the mountains to the coast, dissecting rural land and ancient volcanoes. You will cycle back into Girona to enjoy one of its best restaurants, offering delicious local cuisine served in a buzzing atmosphere.

Day 5Discovering Medieaval Villages by Bike

Southern Emporda is a haven for medieval villages and ruins. Noted for their wine and olive oil production, the villages are brimming with character. You will enjoy gentle riding today stopping off to explore these hamlets as you ride from hilltop to hilltop.

Day 6Cycling Loop out to Vall de Llèmena

Today is the final day of cycling and it is one of the most enjoyable in the region. Vall de Llemena is your first stop. It’s a natural, peaceful and agricultural haven and a perfect place to relax and simply take in its beauty. For lunch we recommend somewhere in the village of Canet d’Adri for traditional tapas to fuel the afternoon ride.

Day 7Departure

Today we will provide you a return transfer back to the airport but as our holidays are flexible, if you would like to stay longer in Catalunya, perhaps visiting Barcelona, we can organise that for you.

The cycling season begins as early as March and April which offers cool Spring riding. The weather gets progressively warmer into May and June.
The SummerJune to August
Catalonia is hot in the summer and can be quite humid. This is tempered by the breeze on the coast so you can enjoy some excellent coastal cycling in the summer.
The AutumnSeptember to November
Autumn is a great time to cycle in Catalonia. The summer heat has passed and the weather becomes cooler, especially towards the Pyrenees to the north. Mid to late October can become quite wet.
The WinterDecember to February
The winter tends to be wet and temperatures can become quite cold, especially in the heart of winter.
