What's Included

Day By Day Spanish Pyrenean Adventure

We can tailor make this trip for you
Day 1Arrival

Arrive in Barcelona or Girona and we will be waiting to take you to the hotel. Check in and relax or explore the wonderful medieval town of Girona. You can pick up your bicycle the day you arrive and your meeting point is located a few hundred metres from a number of great hotels that we use.

Day 2Els Angels

The Els Ãngels loop is one of the most famous rides in Girona and we recommend you try this today. It is a favourite of the pros that live and train here. It’s a great welcome to Girona too as the route crosses the Les Gavarres mountains twice but the ride is a relatively relaxing 60km route. You can also follow the 2009 Tour de France route out to Cassã de la Selva.

Total distance60kmTotal climb1000m
Day 3Sant Grau

This ride gives you a taste of the 2009 Tour de France. You will ride along the famous coastal road, one of the most stunning sections of road you can experience on a bike. The ride is tough with plenty of undulating sections and punchy climbs but this ride is a must if you’re in Girona.

Total distance100kmTotal climb1500m
Day 4Camprodon

Today is a challenging ride, gradually ascending all day into the southern Pyrenees. You will experience some beautiful, scenic roads along the way and the ride finishes today in the mountain village of Camprodon.

Total distance92kmTotal climb1835m
Day 5Mare de Dacu del Mont

Today offers a truly spectacular ride. You will experience breathtaking views, the best of which is atop the climb of the ride, Mare de Déu del Mont. The climb is lengthy and offers a challenging day in the saddle but it’s relatively gradual ascent means that no part of the day is too punchy.

Total distance154kmTotal climb3650m
Day 6Vallter 2000

Vallter 2000 has featured in both the Vuelta a España and Volta a Catalunya and is therefore recognised as a very famous Catalonian climb. The climb is one of only four climbs in the area that climbs to over 2000m. Keep plenty in the legs during the start of the day as, although the climb is steady, there are some steep sections exceeding 10%. The views from the Vallter 2000 ski resort are spectacular.

Total distance45kmTotal climb1231m
Day 7Camprodon to Girona

What goes up must come down. Today, you will indeed be going down! A reverse of Day 4, you will descend across the southern Pyrenees on this magical ride. You have 95km with almost 75% of it being downhill. Prepare for an incredible descent.

Total distance95kmTotal climb900m
Day 8Departure

Check out from your hotel and we will take you back to the airport for your return flight home.

How's the Weather? in Pyrenees

The SpringMarch to May
The Pyrenees weather is unpredictable due to the fronts coming off the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Generally, during the early Spring months, it can feel very cold due to the mix of humidity and low temperatures. Rain is also common during this time although it will likely be in short bursts.

The cycling season begins around the end of April. Riding before this will not be possible due to the ongoing ski season.
The SummerJune to August
The Summer months bring the best weather to the Pyrenees with the highest average temperatures of the year. However, as mentioned, there is still potential for rain during this time of year due to the unpredictability of the mountainous climate.
The AutumnSeptember to November
Autumn, likewise to Spring, is unpredictable and temperatures can become very cold in the later months. It is likely that cycling will not be possible past October.
The WinterDecember to February
The Pyrenees winter is harsh and cycling here is not possible. Snow is common and temperatures are very cold.
