Immerse yourself in cycling in Lanzarote
Lanzarote by @joeholt1011
I love training and coaching in Lanzarote for the weather and the beautiful scenery.
My Lanzarote Highlights
- Timanfaya National Park is spectacular for cycling, if you love dramatic landscapes while you cycle - this is the one! Lunar landscapes lead to open roads and big skies, it's so unique.
- . The distinctive black vineyards of La Geria provide an alternative activity on rest days. Drink some delicious wine in volcanic vineyards.
- Go cycling and finish off with a dip in the turquoise sea and beautiful beaches. Unwind after your ride with a cerveza by the sea.

This is a trip based in a single location

I recommend staying in the south of the island in Playa Blanca or in Puerto del Carmen.

Disc brakes are a must for descents and I like something aero for the winds!

Fly to Lanzarote and you'll get a speedy airport transfer to your hotel.

You will receive a curated set of digital routes for you to download to a GPS enabled device.

How I plan my trip
Day 1 - Arrival into Lanzarote
When I arrive in Lanzarote I like to drop my bags at the hotel and head out to the beach or enjoy a drink overlooking the water.
Day 3 - Timanfaya National Park
66km total distance
Ride into the Timanfaya National Park today. A stunning ride takes you through breathtaking landscapes, incredible colours and allows you to get a great introduction to the island.
Distance: 65km
Ascent: 950mDay 3 - Tabayesco
120km total distance
The famous Tabayesco climb is an absolute beauty of a route. Make no mistake this is a tough ride as you're heading pretty much from all the way up to the top of the island and back. Lanzarote's riding is fairly undulating rather than just climbing so you'll cover some tough but not unmanageable ascent across the day.
Distance: 120km
Ascent: 1,625mDay 4 - Mirador del Rio
140km total distance
Make no mistake, today is a big day in the saddle if you're riding from Playa Blanca. If you're in Puerto del Carmen, it's much more manageable. The highlight is the Mirador del Rio, an incredible lookout over the Atlantic beneath you,
Distance: 140km
Ascent: 2,100mDay 5 - Departure
I think 4 nights is a great amount of time in Lanzarote so today is check out day for your return airport transfer, or you can lengthen your stay for more adventure.

Love Velo's Reviews in Lanzarote
Just back from a week in Lanzarote (our third trip with Love Velo) and, yet again, an excellent experience. Lovely hotel, a great location to the south of Puerto del Carmen and close to the promenade. Excellent bikes as well and a very helpful bike shop. Big thank you to Ciaran who organized the trip on the Monday and we were in the resort for Saturday. Nothing but positives to say about the holiday.

Awesome customer Service like it used to be. When planning my husband's 50th birthday and knowing very little about cycling I decided to try Love Velo and I can't recommend them, and the service I've received from James Danvers highly enough.
