I love arriving into Calpe and heading out on to the promenade. Plant Shak is a great place for some banana bread whislt the sun goes down.

This stunning cycling route starts in Calpe, heading south along the main road through Altea before turning inland toward Finestrat. The first 55 km are mostly uphill, with a steady gradient leading to the scenic Alto de Tudons. Take in the breathtaking views and snap a classic summit photo before descending into Benasau. A short climb follows, then a long, flowing 20 km descent. The ride continues over the Coll de Rates from the less-ridden side, offering another rewarding climb before the fast, flowing descent into Parcent. Here, I suggest taking a stop at Blanca Bikes café for a well-earned coffee and cake and chance to re-fill your bottles. The final stretch offers two options: a direct return via Xaló and the fast main road descent or a more scenic route through Benissa and along the picturesque coast road back to Calpe. This route is a great mix of challenging climbs, stunning descents, and spectacular Mediterranean scenery, making it a must-ride for cycling enthusiasts visiting the area.

On my last day I get up early and grab breakfast before heading out. Café Seamos is my go-to spot for a pre-ride coffee, opening early at 07:30 it is the perfect place to fuel up and caffeinate before a big day out. I choose a northern loop up to El Castell de Guadalest as I want to make the most of my last day with some epic climbs and great views. The ride takes you into the Marina Baixa mountains, leading to the picturesque village of Guadalest, one of the most beautiful spots in the Costa Blanca. After another amazing day in the saddle I head back to the hotel for a tasty dinner at it's restaurant and a good night's sleep.
