If you'd like to experience some guided riding but without being guided every day of your trip, ask about our daily guided rides which you can join on most days.

How fit do I need to be?

Lanzarote is not like Gran Canaria or Tenerife. It's roads are much more undulating rather than continuously climbing. That said, you still need to be fit and watch out for the famous winds which will eat into your reserves!

Most of our cycling holidays in Lanzarote are self-guided, giving you the freedom to explore at your leisure. Armed with our detailed route packs, you can effortlessly navigate the undulating roads pausing whenever and wherever you desire. We also offer daily guided riding which you can also find on our website.

When is the best time to go cycling in Lanzarote?

The most popular time to cycle in Lanzarote is September to April as whilst cyclists in the UK are on their turbos, riders in Lanzarote are usually under warm sunshine and blue skies.

Where is good to cycle in Lanzarote?

We have 2 bases, one in Puerto del Carmen which is more central and allows for more rounded cycling, and a ride up to Mirador del Rio. The second area is Playa del Carmen on the southern part of the island which has spectacular beaches and great nightlife.

A Typical Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive into Lanzarote Airport where you will be picked up and driven to your accommodation. We have a variety of accommodation for you to choose from in Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca. Both are great places to stay to enjoy the best of the island's cycling.
Day 2
Today we recommend a route that heads past La Geria. You will be surrounded by semi circular low walls that protect Lanzarote's vineyards, that produce award winning wines grown out of volcanic gravel, from the winds. Head deep into the Timanfaya National Park before crossing the bottleneck at the top of the island through Tabayesco Valley.

Day 3
Today we suggest you head north. Admire the beautiful village of Yaiza that stands out against the earthy landscape with its cluster of white traditional houses with colourful shutters. Ascend to Teguise and keep cycling north to take on the road that ascends out of Tabayesco Valley, or even a much longer ride to the wild wild east coast of the island.
Day 4
No holiday in Lanzarote is complete without a visit to the Mirador del Rio. If you're staying in Playa Blanca, the ride is from one end of the island to the other, which is approximately 60km 1 way. It's a long ride but you will be rewarded with stunning views of the lookout at Mirador del Rio. Marvel at Mt Teide in the distance and the vast ocean beneath you.

Day 5
Today we will give you a return transfer back to the airport or if you prefer, you can extend your trip for as long as you like, as there is always more to explore by bike!

Just back from a week in Lanzarote (our third trip with Love Velo) and, yet again, an excellent experience. Lovely hotel, a great location to the south of Puerto del Carmen and close to the promenade. Excellent bikes as well and a very helpful bike shop. Big thank you to Ciaran who organized the trip on the Monday and we were in the resort for Saturday. Nothing but positives to say about the holiday.
