Arrive & Depart At Any Time

Your Day by Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Arrival in Lake Bled

Your journey begins in a scene straight from a fairytale – the shimmering waters of Lake Bled. Dip your toes into this glacial gem, gaze out at the iconic island church, and soak in views of Bled Castle perched proudly on its clifftop throne. Surrounded by the Karavanke Mountains, this magical spot is one of Slovenia’s most treasured destinations. Wander around the lake’s quieter western shore for picture-perfect moments, then treat yourself to Bled’s legendary cream cake – Kremšnita – as the sun dips behind the mountains.

  2. Day 2 - Bled to Bohinjska Bistrica

    27km total distance

Today, we take you high up to Pokljuka Plateau for a glorious descent into Triglav National Park. Cycle through alpine villages and into the embrace of Lake Bohinj, the largest and deepest lake in Slovenia – and one of the country’s best-kept secrets. Fancy a little extra adventure? Pedal to Savica Waterfall, the dramatic source of both the lake and the Sava Bohinjka River. Or hop in a cable car up Vogel Mountain for jaw-dropping views across the valley to Mount Triglav.

  3. Day 3 - Bohinj to Tomlin

    55km total distance

Today’s ride is a real adventure. Either test your legs over the Sorica Pass – a quiet, winding route with epic views – or take the scenic train shortcut through the Bohinj tunnel to skip the big climb. Whichever you choose, you’ll follow the emerald waters of the Soča River through the Julian Alps. Fancy a dip? Its impossibly turquoise glow is tempting.

  4. Day 4 - Tomlin to Solkan

    46km total distance

We’ll shuttle you to Kolovrat Saddle this morning – a jaw-dropping viewpoint and WWI open-air museum. From there, your ride follows quiet ridgelines through peaceful valleys. Stop in for a chat and a cool drink with Mrs Josephine, the guardian of a wonderfully old-school pub. Continue into wine country and the beautifully restored medieval village of Šmartno – perfect for a leg-stretch and a glass of crisp white. From here, it’s onwards via a quirky “corridor cycling path” that momentarily takes you through Italy before finishing at Solkan, home to the world’s largest stone arch railway bridge.

  5. Day 5 - Solkan to Grado

    65km total distance

Roll through history today as you ride into “Southern Berlin” – Gorizia, once divided between Italy and Yugoslavia. Visit the fascinating Curtain Museum, then explore a tiny Yugoslav border outpost and the Kostanjevica Monastery – final resting place of France’s last king. Heading south, you’ll reach the blue of the Adriatic and the ancient Roman town of Aquileia, or the charming seaside town of Grado. Picture canals, Roman ruins, and dreamy coastal vibes.

  6. Day 6 - Grado to Portogruaro

    87km total distance

Today, your route winds through peaceful lagoon landscapes and the quirky “Valli da pesca” – traditional fish farms separated by low dikes. You’ll also spot casoni – the reed-thatched fishing huts once used during the harvest season. Ride through this quiet corner of Italy to reach Portogruaro, a Renaissance beauty that once stood proud as part of the mighty Venetian Republic. The palaces still gleam today. You can shorten the ride today by taking the train meaning your ride will be 60km.

  7. Day 7 - Portogruardo to Lido do Jesolo

    67km total distance

Coast into your final full day with a relaxed ride along Italy’s Adriatic shoreline. Think long sandy beaches, inviting turquoise water, and plenty of chances to pause for a dip. Your overnight stop will be at Lido di Jesolo, a lively seaside town with fantastic access to Venice – perfect if you’re extending your adventure.

  8. Day 8 - Departure

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye. But don’t worry – Venice is right around the corner, and more adventures are always waiting. Let us know if you want transport into Venice. LOIRE VALLEY AND CHATEAU TOUR.png

What our Cyclists Say

Awesome customer Service like it used to be. When planning my husband's 50th birthday and knowing very little about cycling I decided to try Love Velo and I can't recommend them, and the service I've received from James Danvers highly enough.

I booked through Love Velo because the reviews were so good. I wasn't disappointed. Right from my first contact with LV they were easy to talk to and although I dithered (my first cycling trip abroad) they didn't press me. When I eventually confirmed my booking they took care of everything.

Everything about Love Velo has been faultless. From the initial notification of them teaming up with Le Col and to the pricing being unbelievable and then the customer service, top class. James, if all the staff are as attentive to every detail as you are then everyone will be as lucky as I have been. 100% at some point, hopefully in the near future I will be booking again with you guys. Thank you again
