My Pyrenees Highlights

  1. I love the Tourmalet, both the climb and the history. I take it on from Luz Ardiden and tackle the 18km climb from there.

  2. The Col d'Aubisque is unique and I will climb it twice when I'm in the Pyrenees.

  3. I love the mountains and how close you are to Spain. I will sometimes ride to the border and stop for a picnic by the river.

Arrive & Depart At Any Time

My Recommended Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Arrive into Toulouse

Arrive into Toulouse and Love Velo will arrange a private airport transfer to the hotel. Check in, relax and enjoy the breathtaking Pyrenean views.

  2. Day 2 - Col d'Aubisque

    125km total distance

The Col d’Aubisque is a true Pyrenean classic and one of my favourites. I kick things off with the Col du Soulor, a proper leg-tester, before flying down into the valley on a thrilling descent. Then it’s time to dig deep as the road snakes its way up to the Aubisque summit, with switchbacks that just don’t quit.

At the top, you’re greeted by giant Tour de France bikes in yellow, green and polka dot – a perfect photo op after a serious ride. It’s tough, it’s iconic, and it’s an absolute must for any cyclist chasing big mountain days.

    Distance: 125km
    Ascent: 3,200m

  3. Day 3 - Col du Tourmalet

    100km total distance

Today’s all about ticking off a legend – the mighty Col du Tourmalet. I recommend taking it on from Luz Saint Sauveur, a route that’s steeped in Tour de France history and packed with jaw-dropping views.

From the moment you leave town, the road starts to rise – and it doesn’t really stop. You’ll wind your way through lush alpine scenery as the gradient bites and the air thins. It’s a relentless climb, with hairpins that demand every ounce of grit, but the sense of scale and beauty only grows with every pedal stroke. When you finally reach the summit, perched high above the valley, the sense of achievement is huge.

    Distance: 100km
    Ascent: 2,500m

  4. Day 4 - Col du Spandelles

    125km total distance

Today I'd recommend riding the Col de Marie Blanque. The route to and from the climb is fairly flat so whilst it's a big distance, the climbing is much less than on other days.

It’s a real grind to the top, but the peaceful summit and flowing descent make it all worthwhile. A compact climb that delivers big on challenge and charm.

    Distance: 125km
    Ascent: 1,200m

  5. Day 5 - Departure

I think 4 nights is a great amount of time in the Pyrenees so today is check out day for your return airport transfer, or you can lengthen your stay for more adventure.

Love Velo's Reviews in the Pyrenees

Love Velo made a great recommendation of a hotel base for my cycle holiday in the Pyrenees. They were really helpful at all times, quick to respond and also shared some excellent routes on ride with gps that were challenging and accurate.

Awesome customer Service like it used to be. When planning my husband's 50th birthday and knowing very little about cycling I decided to try Love Velo and I can't recommend them, and the service I've received from James Danvers highly enough.

Abby

Eager to return to the Pyrenees, having gazed back at the snowy peaks as we cycled north in May this year, we sent an enquiry to Love Velo. Kevin's response and subsequent organisation of our short trip was friendly, helpful and very efficient. I have no hesitation in recommending this holiday. Superbe!
