My Pyrenees Highlights

  1. I love the atmosphere in the Pyrenees, there is something joyful yet relaxing about the mountains, but it's the people that really make it special! Pop into a bistro for a cafe au lait and chat to the locals.

  2. The Col d'Aubisque is one of my favourite climbs - check out the Tour de France themed giant bikes at the top! The Col du Tourmalet is also a beast and a true legend of the Tour de France.

  3. I really feel on top of the world at the summit of the Tourmalet. I like to take on Luz Ardiden and its switchbacks as a warm up, grab a coffee, then tackle the Tourmalet!

Arrive & Depart At Any Time

My Recommended Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Arrive into Toulouse

Arrive into Toulouse and Love Velo will arrange a private airport transfer to the hotel. Check in, relax and enjoy the breathtaking Pyrenean views.

  2. Day 2 - Col du Tourmalet

    100km total distance

There's no real acclimatisation in the Pyrenees as every road is a climb or a descent. Today I'd recommend an epic loop ride and to conquer the Col du Tourmalet. Depending on which side you want to ride, you can head south for the ascent via Luz Saint Sauveur or east for the St. Marie de Campin side. Whichever side you choose to ride, this climb is a high altitude, switchback-filled test of endurance that rewards you with stunning views and a thrilling descent.

    Distance: 100km
    Ascent: 2,500m

  3. Day 3 - Col d'Aubisque

    125km total distance

My favourite climb is the Col d'Aubisque. Make no mistake though, this loop ride is a grueling day in the saddle. First you'll take on the Col du Soulor before an incredible descent into the valley. Then it's a loop round before the switchbacks come thick and fast on the way up to the Aubisque summit. Check out the giant bikes at the top painted in the Tour de France colours of yellow, green and polka dot. It’s a must ride for any serious cyclist looking to experience the magic of the Pyrenees.

    Distance: 125km
    Ascent: 3,200m

  4. Day 4 - Col du Spandelles

    60km total distance

After 2 really tough days in the mountains, I'd recommend riding the Col du Spandelles and then the other side of the Col du Soulor from what you rode yesterday. It's still 2,000m of climbing so it's not easy by any means but the Spandelles is a beautiful and quiet climb and really close to the hotel.

    Distance: 60km
    Ascent: 2,000m

  5. Day 5 - Departure

I think 4 nights is a great amount of time in the Pyrenees so today is check out day for your return airport transfer, or you can lengthen your stay for more adventure.

Love Velo's Reviews in the Pyrenees

Love Velo made a great recommendation of a hotel base for my cycle holiday in the Pyrenees. They were really helpful at all times, quick to respond and also shared some excellent routes on ride with gps that were challenging and accurate.

Awesome customer Service like it used to be. When planning my husband's 50th birthday and knowing very little about cycling I decided to try Love Velo and I can't recommend them, and the service I've received from James Danvers highly enough.

Eager to return to the Pyrenees, having gazed back at the snowy peaks as we cycled north in May this year, we sent an enquiry to Love Velo. Kevin's response and subsequent organisation of our short trip was friendly, helpful and very efficient. I have no hesitation in recommending this holiday. Superbe!
