WE LOVEThe Algarve Coastline
The Algarve coast is dominated by stunning sea caves and golden sands, bathed in almost year round sunshine. The cycling in the Algarve is a hidden gem. Great coastal roads lead their way up to the mountains of Monchique where you can test yourself on some epic climbs.
WE LOVEGreat Riding
The Serra de Monchique offers climbing not too dissimilar to Mallorca. The roads are used by many bike manufacturers to road test their bikes each year, such is the quality of the road surface. You can get lost in amongst pine and eucalyptus trees without seeing any other vehicle for hours.

Day By Day Algarve Cycling Holiday

We can tailor make this trip for you
Day 1 Arrival into Albufeira

Upon arrival into Faro airport, you will be picked up and taken to your hotel in Albufeira. Check in, relax and enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Algarve.

Day 2Loule

Today we suggest a day to acclimatise to the area by visiting Loule. The ride is about 50-70km with between 800m and 1,000m of climbing, depending on whether you choose to head throough Vilamoura, or ride further north into the hills on a slightly longer ride. You will ride through countless vineyards and orange groves and get a real taste of the Algarve.

Total distance60kmTotal climb800m
Day 3Sao Bartolomeu Loop

We recommend that today you explore the hills. You will ride north, away from the coast and within 15km, you will have reached Paderne and left the busier roads behind you. From here, you will gently ride up into the hills, passing Sao Bartolomeu, with only a very discreet incline. Your ride will climb further as you make your way up to Sao Marcos de Serra before circling back to Albufeira.

Total distance80kmTotal climb500m
Day 4Serra de Monchique

Today is the longest day with a ride deep into the Serra de Monchique, the Monchique mountains. Riding north west you will cycle through Estevais where the roads become totally deserted as they make their way through fields and orange groves. At Silves you will head east across the Arade river before climbing up to Monchique. You will climb higher amongst the Eucalyptus trees before arriving at Monchique having climbed 450m in 50km. From here you will ride back on different roads until Silves before descending back to Albufeira.

Total distance105kmTotal climb980m
Day 5Deparure

Check out at your leisure or enjoy the beach before your transfer back to Faro.
