Your Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival into Monopoli
Arrive in the glorious town of Monopoli, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Lose yourself in the labyrinth of streets lined with whitewashed houses. Visit the main church, Basilica Concattedrale Maria Santissima della Madia Patrona, and the town’s stunning, unique squares. In the afternoon, savour the sea breeze while sipping fresh local white wine and tasting the famous “taralli.” Don’t miss marvelling at the Marchesale Arch, the original entrance to the old town.
Day 2 - Monopoli to Alberobello
47km total distance
Today’s ride is a gradual climb from the Adriatic Sea to the gently undulating Itria Valley. Pedal through the typical Murgia landscape, passing olive groves and fields bordered by low stone walls. Take a break at Castellana Grotte to explore its immense underground cave system, one of the largest in Europe. Continue to Alberobello, the Trulli capital of the world and a UNESCO Heritage town, known for its over 1,000 unique trulli – whitewashed stone houses with conical roofs.
Day 3 - Alberobello to Ostuni
40km total distance
Historic Murgia is built upon a karst plateau of olive groves, sun-drenched vineyards, and classic ‘masserie’ farmhouses. Pause to taste some DOC wine in medieval Cisternino, then cycle to the spellbinding Ostuni on the Adriatic Coast. Hidden behind massive walls, the heart of Ostuni guards a Gothic treasure: the 15th-century cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
Day 4 - Ostuni to Gallipoli
52km total distance
Roll down to Ostuni Station and catch the train to Lecce, where your cycling route begins. Ride through the peaceful countryside on quiet roads lined with olive groves. Explore small historic towns like Copertino and Nardò, stroll down shady lanes in the old centres, or relax with a perfect cappuccino. As you cycle towards Gallipoli, you'll discover numerous splendid spots for a refreshing swim in the Ionian Sea.
Day 5 - Gallipoli to Santa Maria di Leuca
51km total distance
Today, you'll follow a stunning coastal road to the southernmost point of Puglia, where the Ionian and Adriatic seas converge. This ride offers breathtaking views of the azure coastline, with the sea shimmering to your right and the lush, rolling countryside to your left. You'll pedal through charming coastal villages, each with its unique character and inviting cafes perfect for a refreshing break. As you approach Santa Maria di Leuca, the landscape becomes even more dramatic, with rugged cliffs and scenic vistas. This journey not only takes you to a geographical landmark but also through a tapestry of natural beauty and cultural richness that defines this enchanting region.

What our Cyclists Say
Awesome customer Service like it used to be. I admit that I'm one of many people who have taken to booking holidays and flights direct to save a few quid. But when planning my husband's 50th birthday and knowing very little about cycling I decided to try Love Velo and I can't recommend them, and the service I've received from James Danvers highly enough.

I booked through Love Velo because the reviews were so good. I wasn't disappointed. Right from my first contact with LV they were easy to talk to and although I dithered (my first cycling trip abroad) they didn't press me. When I eventually confirmed my booking they took care of everything.

Everything about Love Velo has been faultless. From the initial notification of them teaming up with Le Col and to the pricing being unbelievable and then the customer service, top class. James, if all the staff are as attentive to every detail as you are then everyone will be as lucky as I have been. 100% at some point, hopefully in the near future I will be booking again with you guys. Thank you again
