What to Expect on This Trip
Welcome to Tenerife, a cycling paradise where your adventure awaits. With its stunning volcanic landscapes, year-round sunshine, and challenging climbs, Tenerife is a cyclist's dream come true. This beautiful island in the Canary archipelago is not just about the perfect weather and breathtaking views; it's about pushing your limits and experiencing the sheer joy of riding through one of the most diverse terrains you'll ever encounter.
Tenerife is home to some of the most iconic climbs in the cycling world. The granddaddy of them all is Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain. Rising majestically from the sea to over 3,700 metres, the climb up Teide is a rite of passage for any experienced cyclist. Don't stop there though. Explore the wall at Masca and the epic descent down to the Punta de Teno lighthouse.

A Typical Itinerary
Day 1
Remember this trip can be tailored made and is completely flexible. This itinerary is simply a suggestion and you can enjoy as many days on the island as you like.
The best airport to arrive into is Tenerife South. From there we will pick you up and take you to your hotel. We have a variety of accommodation for you to choose from including apartments, villas, 3, 4 or 5* hotels. The best areas to stay are Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas.
Choose from different hotels, different models of bike and holiday dates and times to suit you.
Day 2
Tenerife is dominated by Mount Teide and so much of the island involves a lot climbing. We recommend an acclimatisation day and to head up the west coast towards Los Gigantes Valley. You can hug the coast through Adeje and head north before climbing from Tamaimo to Arguayo. The climb is relatively steady and you will pass up over lava fields before topping out and enjoying a lovely descent back towards the coast. A climb back up to the quieter roads of Tenerife gives you fantastic views over La Gomera before you descend back to your hotel. We love this ride as it's a short 50km ride with 1,200m of climbing and a great introduction to the island.
Day 3
If you're in Tenerife, it's likely you're there for Teide. The looming peak of the volcano can be seen from nearly every point on the island and it dominates Tenerife's landscape. Today, we recommend the beautiful climb through Vilaflor. You will head out from your hotel towards Granadilla before turning up towards the volcano. You will ride through Vilaflor, a sleepy and typically Canarian village on the slopes of the volcano. The climb from Vilaflor is relentless and a great test of your abilities. As you head into the national park, the slopes become darker with black volcanic rock, with vibrant green trees springing up from the hillsides. You have a choice of skirting the crater and descending, or making your way all the way to the cable car station at Teide. The ride home is an exhilarating descent zipping all the way down on almost perfect tarmac. The ride can be anything from 75km to 100km with between 1,400m - 2,000m of climbing depending on your preference.
Choose 1 of our 3 ascents of Mt TeideDay 4
Depending on what you achieved yesterday, you can ascend Teide from a different side or take on the Masca Valley.
If you choose Teide, we recommend heading up through the banana plantations just below Guia de Isora. Ride up towards Chio and enjoy an espresso in the cafe which has beautiful views over La Gomera. Then head straight up for an intense 40km of climbing into the crater. You can choose to skirt the crater's edges or ride all the way to the centre of the national park where Teide's peak proudly sits.
If you prefer an alternative route, the climb to Masca Valley is sensational. You can follow the road from Guia de Isora towards Masca or approach Santiago del Teide via the lower roads. We recommend riding up as early as possible as in the hieght of the season, Masca's incredible views attract tourists from all over the island.
Take on the wall at MascaDay 5
Today we will give you a return transfer back to the airport or if you prefer, you can extend your trip for as long as you like.

Love Velo and Tom in particular were great from my initial enquiry to the minute I got home. Never did a cycling holiday before. I literally phoned up and said I want to go cycling. They couldn't be more helpful. Checked several weeks to find the best price. Great weather, great roads, just what I needed.

Had an amazing pre-Christmas trip to Tenerife thanks to Love Velo! Things couldn’t have gone smoother thanks to their organisation — airport transfers were seamless, bikes were ready and waiting at the hotel, and routes were excellent for a first-timer to the island. Will definitely be using them again.
