Arrive & Depart At Any Time

Your Day by Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Arrival in The Hague

Soend the day strolling through the Hague. Head to the Dutch parliament, the 16th-century Noordeinde Palace or the U.N.’s International Court of Justice, headquartered in the Peace Palace.

  2. Day 2 - Explore The Hague

    15km total distance

This tour offers a perfect round trip through The Hague and the Scheveningen seaside coastal resort. Pack your swimming gear if the weather’s nice and get ready for a memorable adventure! Following a bike-friendly route, you'll pass many of The Hague’s iconic sights, including the Binnenhof, the Peace Palace, and the vibrant Scheveningen boulevard. It's an excellent way to explore The Hague in just one day.

  3. Day 3 - Gouda & The Green Heart

    55km total distance

This scenic route takes you through the Green Heart of Holland, a tranquil, water-rich rural area sprinkled with charming historic towns. Key highlights include the center of Gouda, renowned for its iconic cheese market and picturesque canals, and Oudewater, home to the historic Heksenwaag (Witches’ Weighhouse), where alleged witches once came to prove their innocence.

Starting in Gouda, the route leads you south to the River Hollandse IJssel. From there, you’ll follow a scenic dyke and towpath through the towns of Haastrecht and Hekendorp, arriving at Oudewater. After exploring the Heksenwaag, the journey continues through the beautiful Reeuwijkse Plassen, a network of Dutch lakes created by centuries of turf cutting. The ride concludes back at Gouda train station, providing a perfect blend of natural beauty and historic charm.

  4. Day 4 - Leiden

    48km total distance

This scenic route takes you around the picturesque lakes of the Kaag en Braassem region, interconnected by a charming network of rivers and canals. A highlight of the journey is the numerous traditional windmills that dot the landscape, built to manage water levels in the surrounding polders. While they may not be as famous as the windmills of Kinderdijk, they are just as enchanting and well worth a visit.

Starting in the historic center of Leiden, the route follows canals and rivers, showcasing some of the city’s key landmarks before heading into the countryside. You’ll cycle past the Kagerplassen lakes and the ring dyke surrounding the Haarlemmermeerpolder, eventually reaching Roelofarendsveen, a village renowned for its flower cultivation. From there, the path takes you alongside the serene waters of the Braassemermeer and Wijde Aa, leading back to Leiden’s historic center—a delightful combination of city charm and rural tranquillity.

  5. Day 5 - Departure

After one final, satisfying buffet breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to bid farewell to your cycling adventure. As your holiday comes to an end, you’ll head home with wonderful memories of the scenic routes, historical towns, and unforgettable experiences you've had along the way.

What Our Cyclists Say

Our cycling holiday to Holland was organised superbly by Love Velo: the hotels were good: good food, nice & clean, nice rooms, excellent staff; the bikes were very good - easy to operate, looked quite new; the selected routes were really good - just far enough each day especially with kids. Undoubtedly the highlight was a day at Keukenhof Gardens which were absolutely stunning. Overall a wonderful trip and the weather was even kind to us.

Just recently got back from a fantastic cycle trip around Holland and wanted to say a big thank you to Macauley and Love Velo. Everything was perfect and went like clockwork. The bikes, route maps and information packs were all first class and made navigating from place to place extremely easy. All the hotels were great and in great locations and hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this trip to others,

Peter

Wonderful tour of Holland beginning at Amsterdam - Haarlem, Leiden, Delft, Gouda and back to A. Six great days of using the many cycle paths through countryside and town, meeting helpful people (who all seemed to speak English) and seeing a variety of wild life and fields of flowers. Smooth transition from hotel to hotel: no problem with logistics. The canals were amazing. There were two couples, one of whom had an electrically assisted bike and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely. Highly recommended.
