Spain Cycling Routes

Jaw dropping coast lines, medieval villages and a warm climate. That is why our community of cyclists obsess over cycling in Spain. Spain offers diverse landscapes from the mainland to the islands which makes it perfect, whatever challenge you want to set yourself.

The Islands The Canaries and the Balearics

Spain's mainland is impressive but few islands are as famous for cycling as Spain's. The Balearics, and in particular Mallorca are a cyclists' haven, whilst the experienced ascenders among us will want to ride the climbs offered in Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.

Girona Cycling in Catalunya

We fell in love with Girona the first time went visited. The medieval city will enchant you and the restaurants are to die for. And the riding? Well, that's just spectacular. Lake Banyoles, Olot and the Catalonia countryside will leave you wanting more, and that's before you climb Rocacorba, made famous by the pros who live and train here.

Sierra Nevada Unexplored Mountains

For a quieter location than Girona, check out the mountains of the Sierra Nevada rising up over the sun drenched plains of Andalusia. Take in Mediterranean coves and beaches, visit medieval hilltop villages and enjoy exquisite gastronomy wherever the bike takes you.

Calpe Home of the Pros

Then there's Calpe, one of our favourite places to cycle in Spain. Enjoy a full week's guided adventure exploring the best climbs and including the Coll de Rates.

AJ

The Rocacorba climb was superb and you can see the resemblance with Sa Calobra in terms of distance and gradient. Huge thanks to Tom, Mark and Matthew from the Customer Service Team who provided a great friendly service. Highly recommended.

Mark

I had the best experience booking through Love Velo. Phil and Tom worked over the Christmas break to organise a super last minute trip for me. The hotel was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at - they upgraded my room for free. The bike rental were super accommodating and was located right next to the hotel. The routes were great - took the stress out of planning them. Airport transfer was same- easy and no stress. Calpe is also amazing! Just book it. Thanks again guys!

The Best Cycling in Spain

Spain is always a top pick for our cyclists as it mixes great cycling, tough climbs, scenic coastal rides and stunning cities. Dive into one of our three favourite cycling paradises:

Mallorca

An absolute gem in the cycling world, Mallorca is synonymous with cycling bliss. The island is a playground for cyclists, with Sa Calobra providing the most werll known challenge on the island. The Tramuntana mountain range serves as a stunning backdrop, with routes winding through picturesque villages and along the sparkling coastline. Cycling in Mallorca is not just about testing your limits; it's about immersing yourself in the island's captivating beauty.

Girona

A hub for professional cyclists, Girona offers a mix of challenging climbs, rolling hills, and flat countryside. The city's historic charm adds to the appeal, with medieval walls and cobblestone streets leading to an array of cozy cafes and shops. The Rocacorba climb is a must-do, testing riders with its steep pitches while rewarding them with panoramic views of the Pyrenees and Banyoles lake.

The Canaries

For those seeking a truly unique cycling experience, Tenerife's Mt. Teide offers an otherworldly landscape of volcanic terrains and lunar vistas. Lanzarote is famous amongst triathletes whilst the Pico de las Nieves climb into the clouds in Gran Canaria is not to be missed.

These destinations are not merely places to ride your bike; they are experiences that capture the heart and soul as well as the diversity of cycling in Spain. From the serene beauty of the Balearic and Canary Islands to the historic streets of Girona and the sun-kissed shores of Costa Blanca, Spain offers a cycling journey like no other. At Love Velo, we're passionate about helping you explore these amazing locales, ensuring that every ride is an opportunity to Ride Further and delve into the rich tapestry of Spain's cycling culture.
