Day By Day Etape Du Tour Challenge of the 2027 Event
Day 1 - Arrival
As part of your Love Velo package, you’ll be able to book airport transfers directly from Geneva airport, making your journey as smooth as possible. If you’re planning to drive to the event, we’ll recommend the best hotels with convenient parking, so you can relax knowing your car is safely stored nearby. Your bike can be stored securely at the hotel.
For those arriving early, it’s the perfect opportunity to collect your race number from the Expo in Cluses before the Saturday rush. Our friendly Love Velo team will also be present to welcome you, answer any questions and ensure your weekend starts smoothly.
Day 2 - EXPO & Race Registration
Today is all about getting ready for tomorrow's big ride. If you are staying in Sallanches join the Love Velo team for a relaxed group ride to the event Expo in Cluses -- a great chance to stretch the legs and make sure everything is running smoothly on your bike. If you are staying in Cluses you will only only be a few minutes from the Expo.
Once at the Expo, collect your race number, explore the stands and soak up the excitement as thousands of cyclists arrive for the Étape du Tour. There's plenty to see, from the latest cycling kit and equipment to all sorts of last-minute essentials.
Afterwards, it's time to take things easy and save your energy for tomorrow's big challenge. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon, get your kit ready and make sure you're well rested for an unforgettable day in the mountains!
Day 3 - Race Day
Today begins bright and early, so breakfast will be served ahead of time at your hotel to make sure you’re well-fuelled for the ride.
The climbing starts early as the ride heads up the famous Col de la Colombière (15.9 km at 7%), a climb that's seen plenty of Tour de France battles over the years.
There's plenty more climbing to come, including the Col du Pré, where the steep hairpins are rewarded with stunning views across the Beaufortain mountains and Lac de Roselend, followed by the mighty Montée de Bisanne (12.4 km at 8.3%). This Hors Catégorie beast was last seen during the 2026 Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (fomrlerly the Critérium du Dauphiné), and makes you earn every metre. Once you've made it over the top, it's time to push on towards Les Saisies and celebrate a seriously impressive day on the bike.
With five major climbs, almost 5,000 metres of ascent and some of the most spectacular scenery the French Alps has to offer, this is truly a ride you'll be talking about for years.
Distance: c. 154 km cycling (4,850 m elevation gain)
The Étape du Tour sets off in staggered waves, with each rider allocated a specific start pen, wave, and entry time. These are determined by the event organisers and unfortunately cannot be changed by Love Velo, so please make sure you arrive at your pen within your assigned time slot.
Day 4 - Departure
After an incredible few days in the French Alps, it's time to pack up and head home.
Hotel check-out will be mid-morning, giving you time to pack up your bike, enjoy a well-earned breakfast, and get everything ready for the journey home. For those who have booked airport transfers, the Love Velo team will be organising transport back to the airport, leaving you free to relax and enjoy your final morning in the mountains.
