YOUR ALTERNATIVE 2018 BUCKET LIST

Written by Harry S on 7th March, 2018

If you’re looking for some inspiration for your next cycling holiday, then look no further than our ‘alternative’ bucket list rides. You won’t find Ventoux or Alpe D’Huez in here, these rides are for the dreamers. Enjoy our blue sky thinking for your next ride under blue skies.

Riding the Hai Van Pass, Vietnam

‘A deserted ribbon of perfection’. Jeremy Clarkson, we don’t often agree with you but you’ve nailed this one.

The snaking 20km pass twists and turns over lush mountains as the cliff faces plunge into the South China Sea below. Mists rise off the water and into the hills creating lush vegetation and cool temperatures and you will ride your way through the colonial town of Danang. If there is a better road in Vietnam to ride, we haven’t found it.

Island Hopping by Bike, Croatia

Golden sands, fortified towns and sunshine are pretty great ingredients for a cycling holiday. Throw in a boat cruise every morning and we think that just about makes it a perfect cycling holiday.

Start your cycling holiday in Dubrovnik or Split and then let us take you to the most beautiful islands in the Adriatic by bike.

Monchique, Algarve

Fancy some serious climbing but looking for an alternative to Mallorca and Girona? Then join us in the northern Algarve hills on the very roads that Cube bikes test their fleet. Untapped and virtually unknown by most cyclists, the roads around Monchique are a haven for cyclists. Throw in an incredibly priced 5* hotel with spa, swimming pool and fully equipped cycling area and you have a recipe for an incredible cycling holiday.

Riccione, Italy

Tuscany, the Lakes and Puglia are well known cycling destinations but if you’re looking for a less expensive area to cycle in Italy, then look no further than the Adriatic coast. Base yourself in Riccione or Cesenatico in one of the excellent bike hotels, and enjoy guided rides into the hills frequented by the locals, or self-guide the roads of the Nove Colli sportive.

Uda Walawe National Park, Sri Lanka

Experience some of the most sensational riding in Asia with a trip to Sri Lanka. Ride out to Adam’s Peak, the holy mountain of Sri Lanka, to a remote pass overlooking a wilderness forest reserve. You will catch a glimpse of the sea, purple-faced langur monkeys, wild Sri Lankan elephants, all in the surroundings of an endless teak plantation.
