Off the bike: What’s going on in Mallorca in 2019? A month by month guide

Mallorca is one of our most popular cycling holiday destinations. As such, we often get requests from people who want to know the best time to travel or what to do when they get there. In this blog post, you’ll find answers to these questions and more. Whether your trip is confirmed or you’re still deciding when to travel, find out what’s on in Mallorca for the rest of 2019 and what’s popular during each season…


Highlight of the month: 1st March – Balearic Island Day. This day will be one of the liveliest in Mallorca. Every year, people line the streets in commemoration of the signing of the Statute of Autonomy which took place on the 1st March 1983. If you’re here during this time, immerse yourself in the jubilant atmosphere, concerts, parties, communal meals and general buzz that surrounds the island.

Other events: 29th-6th April – Mallorca International Regatta. 45 nations travel to Mallorca as they seek qualification into Tokyo 2020. The Trofeo Princesa Sofia takes place from Palma each year so check it out if you’re in the area


Highlight of the month: 27th April – Mallorca 312. The famous Sportive is one of our favourites in Europe and we can’t wait to get back out there with more riders than ever having booked through Love Velo. It’s sure to be a great event that takes over the island each year. If you’re not riding, watch the riders and cheer them on as they reach the end of a mammoth ride under the Balearic sun.

Other events: 10th-13th – Road Bike Festival in Playa de Muro. Situated just along the coast from Alcudia, Playa de Muro is easily accessible and a must visit for bike lovers between the 10th and 13th March. Races, workshops, stalls, new equipment and more will be on show. Why not stop here during a scenic ride along the north coast?

12th-14th – Nautical and Cuttlefish gastronomy fair (Alcudia). If you’re staying in the north of the island, stop by and taste the different cuisines the chef’s produce using the locally sourced cuttlefish.

Highlight of the month: 11th – Ironman Mallorca. From Alcudia, some of the worlds fittest athletes embark on an ironman challenge. Cheer them on and visit the stalls and cafe’s that are set up specifically for this event.

Other events: 13th-19th – Like jazz? Stop by the jazz festival in Protur Biomar Hotel for some great music and chilled out vibes.

10th-11th – If jazz isn’t your thing but contemporary pop is, the Mallorca Live Festival will be taking place this weekend. The island attracts an array of people coming to listen to Two Door Cinema Club and other popular bands.

The best activities to do in Spring: Golf is very popular in Mallorca. Any of the islands 20 courses are accessible for tourists. Early bird Yoga – Rise for sunset and enjoy Yoga on the beach as temperatures begin warm. Alternatively, evening yoga may be a great end to a day on the bike.


Highlight of the month: 23rd – Palma San Juan Fiesta. This is one of the events that epitomizes life in Spain and Mallorca. It is truly one of the most memorable nights of the year on the island as beaches are lined with people and bonfires are lit. Food, drink, friends and an evening unlike any other will follow.

Other events: 2nd – International Triathlon. From Cala Millor beach, triathletes from all over the world will begin one of the most exciting Triathlons in Europe. The island is perfect for adventurers and fitness fanatics so enjoy the atmosphere as this event takes place.


Highlight of the month: 7th – Torrent de Pareis Concert. In the northwest of the Tramuntana mountains each year, the Torrent de Pareis Concert takes place, a free event that attracts individuals from the whole island due to the incredible music on exhibition.

Other events: 7th,14th,21st,28th – On the theme of music, the Inca Jazz Festival takes place every Sunday of this month. All proceeds go to charity and there is a great vibe created by the organizers and all those who attend. Inca is a beautiful town in the centre of Mallorca so can be easily accessed regardless of where you’re staying.

Highlight of the month: All of it! August is Mallorca’s most popular month for tourism which means there are all sorts of activities and events on for you to enjoy. Wander the streets and spend as much time as possible outdoors whilst the weather is perfect.

Other events: 15th – Asuncion De Maria. A bank holiday in Mallorca. Floats line the streets and celebrations ensue in the name of religion and virgin Mary. There is a great atmosphere all over the island today so make sure you take the time to experience it.

The best activities to do in Summer: We love snorkelling on the beaches in Mallorca. The water is crystal clear and warm in the summer making it perfect for dipping your head under! If you choose to stay above water, jump on a paddle board and float along the still waters. We also recommend tracking down the closest open-air cinema to where you’re staying. The evenings are delightful in summer so make sure you spend them outdoors.


Highlight of the month: Formentor Sunset Classics. All month, hotels open their doors to concerts that take place as the sun sets over the Balearic sea behind them. Each of these makes for a sensational spectacle so check out the hotels that are in your area.

Other events: 18th-22nd – Mallorca classics week in Port Adriano. Enthusiasts will love this event, showcasing the best classic cars and bikes out there.

7th-8th – Firo del Melo Fruit Festival. Head to Firo del Melo for music, gastronomy and the buzz of locals celebrating this lively festival. This is just another of Mallorca’s traditional festivals that makes the island so unique.

Highlight of the month: 13th – Palma Marathon. The tourist season begins to calm during October as the Palma Marathon takes place. Cheer on the runners if you’re in the area, they’ll appreciate it!

Other events: All month. The Soller Classical Music Festival will enter its 15th year, entertaining famous composers and large audiences. Soller is one of our favourite places to stay on the island so you’ll be right in the mix of it if you base yourself here.

6th – Fira Dolca. In Esporles a food fair shares cakes, jams and delicious pastries. Pick a few up, one won’t be enough…

31st – Halloween. Due to the large German population in Mallorca, Halloween is a big event for those living here. Bratwurst, beer, music and partying can be found if you’re looking to celebrate the spooky holiday.

The best activities to do in Autumn: Wineries. Tour one of Mallorca’s 70 wineries and vineyards as Autumn is the perfect time to do this. Jump on the bike and ride through the vibrant Mallorcan countryside.


Highlight of the month: The Christmas festivities begin in November with local stalls and festivals set up in the main towns. In El Terreno (Palma), the Swedish Christmas Bazaar is definitely worth a visit!

Other events: Feria De Artesonia. In Pollensa (all month) you will find this quaint market. Ideal for Christmas gifts, this is a great place to explore and unwind.

The best activities to do in Winter: Even into the early weeks of December, you’ll find temperatures are great in Mallorca. Adventure activities are therefore perfect. For example, cycling. Did we mention how good Mallorca is for cycling?
